About the Event
SHTCC is trying its best to learn, adapt, and bring unique spiritual, cultural and social experiences to the community. All the events are free. There is no membership charge nor any other fee involved to attend monthly events. Its operational and event costs are taken care through generous donations received during the events and fundraising activities. To to able to continue to serve and grow, financial support is as important as community participation. Hence, for the upcoming event SHTCC would like to urge community to come forward and participate in a fundraiser social meal- SHRAMDAAN.
Hinduism places such great emphasis on the role of food that it has been called “the kitchen religion.” No religious or public function is complete without the distribution of food, especially prasada (food offered to God). The prasad that has been on the altar is especially sacred, and is handed out to worshippers, either by the priest at the shrine or as worshippers leave the temple. Prasad is also served in the form of a full meal, especially on festival days.
Shram- Labour + Daan- Donation
Both are voluntary contribution.
5 families can offer Shram by cooking prasada – bring a simple meal (Vegetable/ Lentil Curry + Plain/ flavored Rice each for 15-20 people). Rest can pay at will- make a Daan towards the meal and the venue cost.
